Completed as independent academic research, the Cannabis Catalog, or Canna(log), responds to the relative lack of design investigation regarding the cannabis dispensary. To elicit the developing unique characteristics of the dispensary, cataloging and indexing focused on the Pacific Northwest’s existing urban dispensary stalk. Seattle’s urban dispensaries served as the main source of investigation due to their relatively long status as ‘legal’ recreational cannabis dispensaries. To illustrate the gradual typification current trends are contextualized with the inclusion of the first “legal” dispensary, the San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club, along with the oldest dispensary in Seattle, the Seattle Medical Marijuana Association (currently Pot Stop).
